The Duncan Ranch offers
a biodiversity not often seen in the semi-arid conditions of the Texas
Panhandle. With this diverse and complicated ecosystem comes a
limitless array of challenges and opportunities.
Our efforts have always driven towards the ultimate goal of improving
the land. Whether it is through the application of grazing
principals outlined in Holistic Resource Management, or careful
management of the ranches cattle, horse, and wildlife populations, it is
important to us that each management decision be rooted in the goal of
improving the habitat, the ecosystem, and the ranch as a whole. We
were very proud to be awarded the Lone Star Land Steward award for our
region in 2003. Founded in 1938, The Duncan Ranch has now existed
through four generations of the Duncan Family, and we look forward to
passing it along to the fifth. Through flood, drought, and fire
our ranch has persevered but only because of the decisions we made prior
to those events. We look forward to the challenges of the future
and continuing that one simple goal of improving the land for
generations to come...

Patsy K. Duncan
Daughter of Frank and Estelle
Duncan, Patsy has lived on the ranch since 1987. Patsy was the first ranch
manager to institute Holistic Resource Management on the ranch, and under her
stewardship the ranches productivity has increased exponentially. Hers was the third
generation of Duncan's to own and manage the ranch.

After Frank Duncan's death the
ranch's ownership became fractionalized with each of Frank Duncan's daughters
owning 1/3 of the ranch. From a business and management standpoint it was a gridlock situation. in 2002 Ronnie Cox formed a partnership with
his mother Patsy to buy out Patsy's sisters interest in the ranch. Ronnie
and his wife Roper moved to the ranch and began helping with the management in
2002. Ronnie was a bank vice-president and chief agricultural lender for
Citizens Bank of Claude, Texas, for nine years, and he studied Range Management
at Texas Tech University before that. He has also studied Holistic
Resource Management under Alan Savory and continues to use the management model
started by his mother, Patsy. Ronnie is the fourth generation of Duncan's to have an ownership
interest in the ranch. His wife Roper helps in the day to day operations
of the ranch but specializes in the management of the wildlife resources, a
field she studied at Texas Tech University as well.

Rhoan and Rowdy Cox
The sons of Ronnie and Roper Cox,
these two kids are currently growing up in a boys paradise out here at the ranch,
but they are making a hand at the ranch work as well. Even now we count on
these guys for a lot of help. Hopefully one day, they will be the fifth
generation of Duncan to own and manage The Duncan Ranch.
